Scale, ownership, and governance
This is an international network school, not a locally governed nonprofit
Founded in 1966, Village serves ages 2 through 18 on a 28-acre campus. Current materials describe about 1,700 students from more than 80 or 90 nations, while the latest publicly linked profile counted 844 high-school students in 2024–25.
Live and dated sources also use different class-size and ratio figures, so keep each number attached to its year.
Village operates within Nord Anglia’s corporate group. An EQT-led consortium completed a $14.5 billion acquisition of Nord Anglia in March 2025.
Network ownership can bring capital and shared programs; it also makes local authority worth asking about. No public local trustee roster, charter, parent vote, or reserved-powers map surfaced in our review.
Ryan Kelly began as Head of School for 2026–27. The IB directory still names another leader and labels facilities as day-only, a reminder that even authoritative directories can lag.
Use it to confirm authorization, not the current organization chart or residential reality.
Curriculum and pathways
The catalog becomes useful only after placement gates and fees are attached
K–4 follows an American foundation with literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, languages, arts, innovation, and physical education. K–3 do not receive regular graded nightly homework.
Published guidance rises to about 90 minutes daily in Grade 6 and 120 in Grades 7–8, with no more than two major assessments due in one day.
High school runs four 85-minute blocks plus advisory and expects roughly 30 minutes of homework per subject on average, with IB potentially requiring more. Students complete an American foundation in Grades 9–10, then may pursue full IB, individual IB, AP, pre-medical science, entrepreneurship, or computer science alongside the Village diploma.
Full IB and AP use published MAP thresholds, and IB continuation is monitored. Career pathways carry prerequisites and extra charges.
A current guide conflicts internally on a 26-credit minimum versus a 29-credit on-track table and on service hours. Ask a counselor to put this student’s four-year contract, exit routes, course capacity, and pathway fees in writing.
Learning support
The public support outline does not establish a specialist school
Village names learning-support, English-language, and social-emotional staff. Materials describe counseling, monitoring of learning differences, accommodation planning, executive-function consultation, and outside referrals.
English-language support is mandatory when identified and may replace mainstream subjects during transition.
Public materials do not give caseloads, service minutes, fees, evaluation ownership, severity boundaries, or guaranteed continuation. Academic results, attendance, and pathway performance can trigger probation or non-renewal.
Our inference is that Village may fit mild-to-moderate needs managed through accommodations and coordination; daily remediation or therapeutic boarding requires a written service map.
Five-day and seven-day boarding
Five-day boarding solves a Houston week; seven-day boarding becomes home
Five-day boarders arrive Sunday evening and leave Friday after school. Seven-day boarders remain while school is in session and receive weekend programming and some break travel.
Academics are shared with day students; the residential value is supervision, evening study, meals, campus access, and reduced driving—not a separate academic track.
The published rhythm includes breakfast, school, activities, dinner, supervised prep from 7 to 9 p.m., dorm return by 10, and lights out later. Four-bedroom suites have two baths and a shared study area.
The campus advertises gated entrances, 24-hour security, and cameras; a school-produced account describes roughly 30 residential staff overall, but not coverage by shift.
Live pages conflict on the youngest boarder: one says Grades 6–12, another Grades 7–12, while a recent handbook described Grades 8–12 with exceptions. Do not assume a Grade 6 place.
Confirm age and grade separately for each program.
Before deposit, request the residential handbook and ask about awake overnight coverage, staffing and turnover, roommate changes, leave and ride-share rules, visitors, phones, medication custody, crisis counseling, complaints outside the residential director, closure housing, guardians, airport transfers, and family visits. Cameras and network standards do not answer these pastoral questions.
Arts and athletics
Facilities create options, not guaranteed roles
Arts span visual art, music, ensembles, theater, dance, photography, journalism, fashion, and architecture by grade and availability. Facilities and Juilliard-linked workshops make this a real breadth argument.
Ask about auditions, lessons, rehearsal peaks, course conflicts, and beginner entry.
Athletics lists 11 sports and major facilities. Current pages conflict on whether competition begins in Grade 6 or 7, and earlier materials describe selection and coach-controlled playing time.
Confirm entry grade, cuts, team levels, fees, training calendar, and late transport for the actual sport.
Bus and commute
The West Houston location can be natural—or consume the week
Village sits in the Energy Corridor. Its published buses serve parts of Cinco Ranch, Eldridge, Parkway, Royal Oaks, Westpark, Bellaire, West University, and Sugar Land, arriving around 7:30 and leaving at 3:45.
No late activity bus is published.
The table still uses 2025–26 dates and contains time-label errors. It lists $4,000 annual round trip or $3,450 one way, with some pickups at 6:20 a.m. Confirm Fall 2027 route, stop, price, seat, and afternoon time, then test the trip after the actual activity end.
Diligence points
Document consistency needs a direct conversation
Current or recently linked materials conflict on boarding entry, sports entry, graduation credits, service hours, AP exams, leadership, day-only status, bus dates, and some labels. These inconsistencies are not evidence of weak teaching.
They are a reason to get the exact 2027 program, price, eligibility, and residential rules in writing.
The public safeguarding framework describes network expectations, but it does not replace the campus handbook or answer who is in charge during an incident. Request the current local safeguarding lead, complaint ladder, adult coverage after dark, and a clear division of responsibility between campus leaders and the corporate network.
Complete cost and aid
The fee stack changes the comparison—and boarding packages are not equivalent
For 2026–27, day tuition is $30,108 in K, $33,689 in Grade 6, and $35,373 in Grade 9. Required building, enrollment, technology, and curriculum charges bring minimums to $31,858, $37,054, and $40,178 before the application and lunch, bus, books, activities, athletics, exams, or pathways.
Five-day boarding is $76,484 including its student fee; seven-day is $93,730. The difference is not just two nights: seven-day includes items the five-day package excludes, such as uniforms, textbooks, break trips, and airport transport.
Both can exclude specialty programs, athletics, and graduation charges.
Institutional need-based aid begins in Grade 5, so a K family should not assume it. Village reports need-blind admission and no merit, athletic, or arts awards, but does not publish aided share, average grant, range, new-family deadline, or whether residence and required fees are covered.
K, Grade 6, and Grade 9 admissions
All three grades are possible; none is proven to be a major expansion door
The live page shows a January 15 priority application and March 25 priority reply, followed by rolling enrollment when space remains. It does not attach a year.
For Fall 2027, treat this as the current pattern and ask Admissions to confirm it before relying on it.
Kindergarten requires a $200 application, confidential teacher recommendation, records, testing information where available, immunizations, and an observation. The school publishes preschool age cutoffs but no Kindergarten cutoff, seat count, or admit rate.
Grade 6 and Grade 9 applicants provide English and mathematics recommendations, records, accepted testing, immunizations, and a student interview; high-school applicants also provide a transcript. Incoming high-schoolers take placement tests in mathematics and reading, and sometimes English or world language.
Village publishes no K, Grade 6, or Grade 9 applicant, offer, yield, or opening counts.
Boarding files add two years of transcripts, English-proficiency evidence where needed, passport documentation, interview, and writing sample. A promise of most decisions within 48 hours refers to complete boarding files after interview; it should not be generalized to day admission.
Village can solve several family problems at once—but each solution needs verification
A West Houston family may want the day school. A regional family may find five-day boarding restores sleep and access.
A distant family may need seven-day care. An ambitious student may value IB or a career pathway.
These are distinct reasons, not one generic Village choice.
Put the student’s entry, four-year courses, support, activity, transport or residence, complete cost, and escalation path on one page. If the school can answer it clearly, Village becomes a compelling and unusually flexible Houston option.
