Years, senders, and dates
The Grade 9 overview shows where records sit among the other pieces of the file. Record windows differ among Horace Mann, Dalton, and Saint Ann's, so check the grid first.
| School | Years | Sender | Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Horace Mann | Two years ago, last year, current first period | Family uploads the two older; school sends official copies | Oct. 15, 2026 uploads; Jan. 8, 2027 complete file |
| Dalton | Last year and current fall term | Not published; ask admissions | Ravenna, ISAAGNY timetable |
| Saint Ann's | 7th grade and first-semester 8th grade | Current school, using the Records Release Form | Jan. 8, 2027 |
- When will your child's school issue the fall report?
- Who sends Dalton's transcripts, and what happens if the fall report runs late?
- Which authorization does your school need before records go to another school?
ISAAGNY includes school records among the core application materials. Recommendations are a separate task for the adults writing them, who send their forms directly to the schools. The overview's teacher recommendations section covers whom to ask and when.
When current reports arrive
Horace Mann's Transcript Request Form goes to the current school. When the 2026-27 first-marking-period report is ready, the school should send it immediately, by Ravenna if the school has an account, otherwise at admissions@horacemann.org. If the school is delayed, the family may email its own copy there. Ask any other school before sending a family copy.
Reading the record honestly
Read the report your child's school actually issues: its scale, its comments, and what each course label covers. Skip the homemade GPA conversion and send what the school issues.
If one term dips, the grade alone doesn't say why; the teacher who gave it can, so ask what the work showed and what changed. Then ask each school where, if anywhere, context belongs, since that is the school's call. A report card is a record, not a riddle, and it doesn't need a decoder ring.
Missing reports and school changes
If a report is missing or your child changed schools, ask the sending school what it can issue and the receiving school what it will accept.
For an NYCPS student, records follow the student; the current or last school is the place to start, and a current student can ask the guidance counselor for a transcript at any time. To send records to another school, ask your school which authorization it needs.
If an NYCPS record looks wrong
If your child attends an NYCPS school and you think a record is inaccurate, misleading, or a privacy violation, NYCPS's privacy page says to send a written request, email accepted, to the child's school, naming the information and the remedy you want. The school's stated response time is 15 school days. If you believe disclosure could endanger your child or family, contact the school immediately. This covers NYCPS schools only, and a request is not a promise to change a valid mark.
